Can I customize the email sent by the "follow this blog" widget?

I have the ‘follow-this-blog’ widget setup so people can follow my blog. Love it!
HOWEVER– the email sent by this widget seems to include the entire content of the post… which causes people to NOT VISIT THE BLOG. What’s worse– a bunch of email clients don’t show the images .. they just show ‘X’s.
I’m hearing from family members “I get these emails but they don’t show the pictures” and people don’t know to click the title link.
I’d WAY PREFER an email that’s much shorter and is only a notification with a clear title to click– NOT all the post content. Is it possible to configure this? If not– would you folks consider this a feature request? :) I bet lots of other folks would prefer this, it would improve blog traffic a lot if people had to actually GO TO THE SITE, and not just read in an email.

You can include the summary (first 55 words) of your post in the email by setting For each article in a feed, show to Summary in your Reader Settings page at: https://joebelfiore.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
