Can I customize the image widget for different pages?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an image in my sidebar, but I would like that image to be different on every page of my blog, rather than the same image. Is there a way to do this? Currently, I have the image set in a widget. Can I do it with a widget or in any other way? Thanks. Kim

    Hi Kim,

I’m afraid it’s not possible to set your Image Widget to display a different photo on each page. As an alternative, we do have some themes that allow you to set a different featured header image on various pages.

Another option that looks like it would better suit your needs is to remove the sidebar altogether and and insert the image into your page.

Thank You! Is it possible to “eliminate” the sidebar? I have inserted the image into my page, but now the whole right column is just blank. It looks unbalanced. I’ve checked the “full-width, no sidebar” option for the page, but still get a blank column and my content doesn’t extend.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! It looks like the “Full-width, no sidebar” page template in Spectrum removes the sidebar content only, rather than expanding the width of the page content. I’ve passed this on as a suggestion to our team so we can keep it in mind for future updates.

In the meantime, your best bet may be to use one image in the sidebar or modifying the size of your images when including them in each of your posts and pages.

There is a way to hide the sidebar and make other adjustments to a theme using custom CSS. You can do it with the paid upgrade for Custom Design. Check out this link to learn more: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

  • Hi, Kim. Thanks for letting us know about this one. Content should now go full-width in the Spectrum theme when you’re using the full-width template.
