Can I "de-register" a blog?

It’s not really a problem – I just wanted to know if I could “de-register” one or two of my blogs? (Basically, delete ’em!)

Hi there,
You certainly can! Before you do, keep in mind that deletions are completely permanent. You’ll lose any content AND the blog name (so neither you nor anyone else will ever be able to use the blog name that you’ve been using).
As long as you’re OK with that, you just need to follow the directions right here:

Ok, one final question…
How come no one else would be able to use the blog name?
I have no problems with not using the name, but I was interested in deleting the site so that maybe somebody else could use that name if they wanted. I don’t even have anybody in mind, it was kind of my way of allowing the name to be “recycled,” eventually.
Just curious.

And to answer your question, both your username and your blog names are considered part of your online identity here at WordPress.com. We reserve both even after you stop using them so that others cannot come along and begin posting or commenting in ways that might reflect poorly on you.

Ok, that makes sense.
Thanks for letting me know… I think I’ll keep mine for now and if someone wants a name (and it’s one I’m willing to give up), transfer it – that way it’s still usable.
