Can I display a site full screen?
-
Can I display a site full screen? Without the grey big borders around the core of the site? It’s a pitty that this takes space, especially on mobile devices. I’d expect the standard themes like TwentyEleven to elimate that when a small screen is detected.
I hope there’s a feature for enabling the site to show full screen.
The site I need help with is hidden, so the one below is NOT relevant. I just had to mention one.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To solve the mobile problem directly, go to your settings and change the mobile site settings. Let me know if you need help with that. I don’t know what you can do about the gray borders.

Hi perseshow,
Thanks for your quick response. The mobile settings are okay already, the theme works smoothly on mobile devices. I’m just wondering if full screen display is possible. So actually the question is about those grey borders/background indeed, I guess.

Just call me Perse.
Hmm…I think this is another question I’ll have to tag for Staff.

Please provide the URL for the exact blog in question in the form of an active link starting with http:// so we aren’t wasting any more time than what’s already been wasted on getting you (or your student) the help you (or he or she) need(s).

@perseshow
Please allow me to be blunt. This is a peer support forum but those posting here for help ought to have an assurance that their threads will be answered by people who have correct answers. Every time we post into a thread we move the timestmp forward and unless we provide a correct answer when doing so that means it takes longer for the blogger who posted to get the help they need and expect.Most bloggers posting here are beginners with .wordpress.com blogs who haven’t blogged before and that means they are easily confused.
Some days about 30% of those who post here are actually wordpress.org bloggers. Most are lost and need redirection to the correct support forum, but there are others who don’t like waiting for support in their own support forum who post here.
The first thing we Volunteers who have been answering questions here for years do is verify the URL of the blog referred to and who hosts it. We click the member link under the username to examine their support history here, so there aren’t duplicated threads all over the forum that Staff have to waste time closing.
I don’t post into threads at all, unless I have a correct answer that I can back up with links to credible sources like support docs and answers in resolved forum threads. And the other Volunteers raincoaster, justjennifer, auxclass, galois, etc. do likewise. Will you please consider doing the same as we do.

Sorry for sounding dumb, but I don’t know what you mean by this.
My student is on vacation now, and I tried to help him. I’ll send him an e-mail to ask him to join this conversation and get the help he needs. I thought a URL isn’t really necessary, since the question isn’t site related, rather theme related for WordPress.com sites.
I think he has the same theme as I have (TwentyEleven), so I can also enter my own site. I’ll put a bit.ly URL since I don’t want my site to be shown publicly. That’s put in the settings, but I can still see my site on my laptop, so I’m not sure this works correctly.

@hiekevanhoogdalem
That comment I posted above is addressed this way @perseshow
It’s not meant for you. :) It was meant for perseshow who is a new volunteer. -

Again: no, this is another topic. I entered a Bit.ly URL yesterday in order to mask the real one. The question also goes for this website. Did anyone have to time look into it yet?

Yikes! I’m so sorry.
The only way to suppress or remove the display of any them elements is with a custom design up grade so your can do the required CSS editing. See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom and CSS editing:

Tnx, so basically: this is not possible in *.COM, but IS in *.org. I already thought so, but wanted to check on that.

Hi everyone!
Displaying a blog that uses the Twenty Eleven theme in full screen was discussed quite a bit in this forum thread:
Please note that a Custom Design upgrade is required to make any changes to your CSS file.
