Can I do the following to ‘Keep’ my current domain and update the template to FSE?

    Hi! I just saw the FSE webinar and have a thought on keeping my markivancole.wordpress.com address. Would it work to do this:
    1) Export my current site
    2) Create new site and import all content (markivancolenew.wordpress.com)
    3) Export content from new site.
    4) DELETE the original site completely.
    5) Create NEW site with ORIGINAL domain (markivancole.wordpress.com).
    6) Import content to this new site with the original name.

    It’s important to do this because I have links to this site elsewhere, and my business cards also have this site. Please advise. Will this work?

    Hi @markivancole,

    At this time, it’s not possible to reuse free site addresses. While you can create a new site, you won’t be able to change its address to the old one.

    What you might want to consider is importing content into your new site, and then use site redirect to forward to your new site.

    Otherwise, you might want to hold off until full site editing (FSE) is rolled out to existing WordPress.com sites.
