can i download my entire media gallery?
-
I am moving from wp.com to wp.org but in the process the images on my blog did not transfer properly and have become very blurry (about 75% of them, so look like they are supposed to). I contacted my hosting company and they did a lot of things to see if they could fix it and the conclusion is that I’m going to need to manually reupload all of my images into their proper posts. Is there a way to download my entire wp.com site’s media gallery onto my hard drive? Or is there at least some easy way or shortcut?

Sarah,
I am sorry you’re dealing with this difficulty. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to do a bulk download. It is going to have to be a manual process.
I assume you already are familiar with the process, but in case you need a hand, you can open up one of your images from the Media Library in its Attachment Page. It will look like this:
http://formationsofmentalobjects.com/2015/01/24/decisions-decisions/dsc_1607/Click once on the image. When it opens in it’s large format, Control + Click, and then choose Save As.
One thing you might want to do in the new site, while you’re at it, is optimize your images. You have some very large files…much larger than necessary. This will slow down your website’s load time greatly. Your theme’s specifications should tell you how large your images should be.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!
