Can I duplicate my site onto another wordpress.com url?
-
I want to move up to Twenty Eleven, it is really much better than Twenty Ten.
However, I’m afraid what will happen to the site I have built if I just push the “Activate” button to move it over to Twenty Eleven.
I would much rather “test” this by duplicating my site and then pushing the “Activate” button to upgrade the theme.
Is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes – set up a test blog (like testtritoncommunities.wordpress.com – so you don’t take a “good” address. Mark the test site as Private – then export your base blog and import the whole thing into the Test site and then test away –

I tried that and the export was not a complete duplicate of my current blog, it only exported all of the posts, etc. not all of the customization.
Am I missing something?
-
No, it will not export all the customizations. Those you will have to move over manually.

Sorry, I meant premium theme. I want to purchase a premium theme to a ‘test’ blog and make sure I can customize it the way I want before transferring to my blog. I just don’t know how to transfer it once it’s ready!
-
The premium theme is per blog, so if you purchase it and put it on the test blog, then that is where it will stay. Staff might be willing to move it over to a different blog, but I don’t think that is really something they want to get into.
You can purchase it and if it isn’t going to work out for you, you can get a refund for up to 30 days.
