Can I edit the URL of a subdomain after its creation?

    Hi,
    I purchased a domain on WordPress (domain.com) and would like now to create another blog in French, as a subdomain – the URL I’d like would be for example fr.domain.com.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/ tells me I’d need to first create a blog fr.wordpress.com and then make it a subdomain – but I can’t because fr.wordpress.com already exists.
    My question: can I enter anything as blog address (for example frXYZ.wordpress.com) and then once I make it a sudbomain to my domain.com, change the URL to what I want, that is fr.domain.com?
