Can I embed an image from DeviantART using their embeding feature?
-
Hello,
I don’t know if you know deviantart, I would like to know if I can embed content from my deviantart gallery on my blog using their embeding code.
Here is an exemple of code:
<object width=”450″ height=”460″><param name=”movie” value=”http://backend.deviantart.com/embed/view.swf” /><param name=”flashvars” value=”id=69251679&width=1337″ /><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always” /><embed src=”http://backend.deviantart.com/embed/view.swf” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”450″ flashvars=”id=69251679&width=1337″ height=”460″ allowscriptaccess=”always”></embed></object>
Quick rookie sketches by ~SmashR on deviantARTI tried to paste it in the code part of a post but it didn’t work, the only I got was a link to the image but not an embeded window like I show get one.
Maybe I did something wrong ?Thanks for your help :) !

oops the code didn’t paste entirely :(.
You can find it here under the image: http://smashr.deviantart.com/art/Quick-rookie-sketches-69251679

No, you cannot. It’s a format which poses a security risk; embeds are disabled here.
What you can do is copy the image to your computer, upload it to your WordPress.com space, and post that, linking back to the source. If they provide a straightforward image-with-link code like icanhascheezburger does, then you can use that as well.

Ok I see, is their a code line I can use on my blog so that when you click on the image you will be sent to my deviantart gallery adress please?

When you post in your WP.com blog an image of yours that’s hosted at Deviantart, just click on the image while you’re writing the post to select it and then click on the Link icon; that will give you the link-making pop-up box. Put the link to the page in there, and set it to open in a new window, so the reader then has one page that’s your blog and one that’s your gallery. That’s what I do all the time.

Are you talking about the image tool in the post writing window? It doesn’t work, the image isn’t linked.
What I would like to know is, is there a html formulae that could let me show an image hosted on wordpress or imageshack and give at the same time an option where the viewer could click on the image to be sent to my deviantart page for that specific image ?
Thanks again for your help !

No, you need to get the image link at Deviantart and then click on the link icon in the wordpress post or page editor so that you can insert the URL of the image.

That’s not what I do. I use the page link, not the image link. Here’s what I do, step by step, which will accomplish what you want.
I host the image at WordPress. I’m assuming you know how to upload to your WordPress account; it isn’t necessary if the deviantart site is YOURS and it allows hotlinking, though. Put the image in the post, using the Send To Editor (link to None!). Once the image is in the post and formatted the way you want, click on it to select it, and then hit the link icon. In the URL space, put the link to the source page, in this case your deviantart page.Is that clear? This is what I do for ALL images I get from external pages, so that each image functions as a link. You can see how it works on this post, which links to a deviantart page:

Code for that is:
<p align="center"><a href="http://torenatkinson.deviantart.com/art/Where-the-Great-Old-Ones-Are-20882194" title="Where the Great Old Ones Are!" target="_blank"><img src="http://raincoaster.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/where_the_great_old_ones_are_by_torenatkinson.jpg" alt="Where the Great Old Ones Are" align="middle" width="600" /></a></p> -
i see what you mean !
I didn’t know that the link button worked even with images.
Thanks for the help ! Once more !I’m on DA too, here is my page there: http://smashr.deviantart.com/
