Can I fix a problem with the pagination of a Category when one clicks 'Back'?
-
When you initially select a category, you arrive to a page that has all the blog articles under that Category. After you click on a blog article title, enter the blog, read it, enjoy it, and then hit the ‘Back’ button to go back and read other articles, there are many missing, because the site has returned to the “page” of the Category you were on previously, and doesn’t display any “pages” prior to the post you were on.
In other words, the site cuts off the articles that are chronologically newer than the one you chose. For example, if I visit the category “Golden Swallow” (https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/category/golden-swallow/), and click on the February 3rd post (https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/2015/02/03/cockpit-country-circumnavigated/), when I click ‘Back’ to resume browsing the Category, I’m stuck in the “page” I was on when I clicked on the Feb 3rd post, which is https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/category/golden-swallow/page/3/.
The simplest solution to this problem is to have any ‘Back’ command from a post to a Category page exclude the little /page/x/ suffix of the http address. But since I have no control over the html of the blog, I don’t think I can fix this myself, meaning people visiting different categories all over the blog are probably missing out on lots of posts without even being aware of it.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I was able to reproduce this effect, with the back button taking me to page 1 (full list), or pages 2 or 3 (partial list) of the category archive depending upon how far down I had scrolled when I selected a link. I think this effect should be considered a bug. Have tagged the topic for staff attention.

Hi @setheinman,
This should be fixed by disabling infinite scroll here:
https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
Just deselect the option next to “To infinity and beyond .” Can you give that a try?

@musicdoc1 thanks for flagging this
@jeremeylduvall thanks for the suggestion. I tried disabling infinite scroll but if I click on the new “older posts” button in any category, read one of those posts, and click Back to return to the category, I’ll still be stuck with the /page/2/ type of issue where any posts from /page/1/ don’t show up and clicking Back repeatedly to try to get further back doesn’t refresh the page either. So I’m still stuck!

Hi Seth,
Can you try clearing your browser’s cache? I gave this a try in an incognito window in Chrome. I opened the following archive page:
https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/category/golden-swallow/
I clicked “Older Posts” at the bottom of the site and then clicked on the following post:
https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/cockpit-country/
Once that post loaded, I used the back functionality in the browser. I was taken back to this archive page:
https://raxacollective.wordpress.com/category/golden-swallow/page/2/
However, I had a “Newer” navigation as shown here:
That allowed me to get to the newer posts.
