can i get a user name that is unavailable because it is the title of my blog?
-
I have the blog at sampleuniquename.wordpress.com
I would like to create a user name so I can change the display, as I have multiple blogs and do not want all of them to show my full name.
I tried to create a new user name sampleuniquename, but wordpress says no go because the blog of that name exists (I think, there is no user registered as sampleuniquename).
Is there any way to get the user name sampleuniquename since I’m the one that has the blog with that name?

You will need Staff intervention to achieve this and I’m not even clear if they will do this for you as the support documentation states we cannot change our usernames. This is the contact link to use for Staff http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Apparently I did not explain well enough. I am not trying to change my username. I am trying to get a new one in addition to the one I have, so that I can post without my full name being revealed on one of my blogs. From what I understand, you have to have multiple user names if you want to have one blog with your full name as the author on every post and another blog without it.

You STILL need to contact staff if it is saying that name cannot be used. Volunteers here in the forums cannot help with this. It requires staff.

Someone who has had some experience trying to do this could say, which is the point of the forums — to save time so that people know what they are talking about by the time they go to staff — right? :)

Yes, and you have gotten the correct information.
If the blog of that name exists, then the username exists by definition, unless the admin created it AFTER they created their first blog.
You have made it difficult to help you by giving us a hypothetical name instead of the real one. If we had the real name, we could give more direct feedback.
There is, however, no reason for you to create a new username if all you want is for a different username to show up when you post somewhere else. You can create a different nickname on your profile page and change it when you go to post on that different blog. The author widget will reflect the nicknames that have posted on that blog.

We can create the username to match your blog, please, as the others have suggested, contact support – http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
