Can I get a website without a blog?
-
Hi guys, I’m an author whose publisher said to set up a self-hosting website with WordPress. I bought my domain name http://www.natashaewendt.com from digital pacific and was hoping to set up the site with you but you seem to offer only blogs, not websites, or blogs that double as websites. I just want a website. Do I have this option? If so where on your site do I go to get it? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m an author whose publisher said to set up a self-hosting website with WordPress.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication.
A website is a page based site designed to operate as a one way means of communication ie. a noticeboard.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based.
That said, you are in the wrong place if you truly want to self host. WordPress.com and WordPress.org have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers. Your publisher (who should do this for you, given they are keeping 90% of the revenues of your book) is talking about a WordPress.ORG website not a WordPress.COM website.

Just one: you can’t delete it. Posts remain in the forum for the benefit of other people who may be having the same issue and who could benefit from the answers here.
