Can I get an IP address to map my domain rather than a nameserver?
-
I want to keep my email function with names.co.uk however I cannot do this if I change the nameserver to wordpress, however if I have the IP address I will be able to keep my email function.

What’s the domain you want to map to your WordPress.com blog?
You can go to Store > Domains on your blog’s dashboard and follow the steps there.
After that you can follow these steps to get your e-mail working:
1. Go to Upgrades > Domains in your Dashboard.
2. Click “Edit DNS” button on the right of your domain name.
3. In the text box, paste the code below:
MX 10 athena.hosts.co.uk.
MX 10 hermes.hosts.co.uk.4. Hit the save button.
Please allow 4-8 hours for .COM and .NET domains and about 24-48 hours for all other domain extensions for these changes to complete.

Thanks. The domain is http://www.lydialucy.com
If I do this could I risk losing the emails I already have in this inbox? Names.co.uk support said that using a nameserver would automatically shut down my email account with them.
I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m not a techy person.

I’m not familiar with the names.co.uk policy. Best would be to contact them and ask if it’s possible to change the nameserver, and redirect the MX records back to them without shutting down your e-mail account.

If it’s not possible are wordpress able to provide me with an IP address instead? As this is what names.co.uk said originally would resolve this problem.

WordPress.com blogs do not have individual IP addresses. The domain really needs to point to our servers with NS records.
