Can I get back my /portfolio domain?

    Hi!

My portfolio page used to be http://LhuWenKai.com/portfolio, but ever since WordPress recently introduced the Portfolio template, the /portfolio domain is overwritten by the default settings, meaning that it’s impossible the /portfolio subdomain showcases my existing portfolio page registered under the /portfolio subdomain.

If I don’t enable my portfolio settings, a visit to http://lhuwenkai.com/portfolio (the /portfolio subdomain) will simply result in a redirect back to the homepage.

I personally find the portfolio option not as impactful as my current once since users have to click here and there before they can view my whole set of work. I’m a presentation designer, hence it would be really troublesome for potential clients to 1) not be able to see all my work up front, and 2) having to take an extra click before getting to see my all my slides, instead of an easily accessed 1 page format. Besides, my theme isn’t suited for portfolios, hence it’s a nightmare to even try to arrange and right now I can say the first impression given is pretty horrible.

Anyway, here’s my question. Can I get back the /portfolio domain to point back to my original and existing portfolio page, because right now the /my-portfolio subdomain I’m using is unprofessional and not really concise. I also prefer my current portfolio page that I built from scratch, instead of the templates/styles offered by WordPress.

Hence, I will appreciate if WordPress provide me, and plenty of other users who already have portfolio pages set up before this change, a solution to allow our readers to access our original and earlier-designed portfolio pages when they visit our /portfolio subdomain, instead of an archive page, or the new portfolio page formats.

    Thank-you!

  • Is the http://lhuwenkai.com/portfolio page currently working for you? When I visit it, I see many examples of your poster and Keynote designs.

There may have been a temporary redirect that remained in place once the portfolio setting was deactivated that prevented you from viewing the page.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
