Can I get comments to appear on the homepage rather than just the individual pos

The blog is http://thequeersphere.com/ , and for example look at the ‘A single man’ post, there is 1 comment but in order to view it you have to click on the specific page, is there a way to have the comment appear on the homepage?

    Cheers

    Jamie

Furthermore, I don’t want to have to approve eery single comment, I would like one of those ‘what is 7 + 2’ boxes,

But I would stil like to receive email notifications when someone comments, sorry for having posted about 4 questions!

Having the comments on the main page can become problematic very quickly if a post gets 10 or 20 or more comments since it makes navigation difficult. People have to scroll a long ways to get past all the comments and to the next post. This can also increase page load times significantly, and the search engines now look at page load times when they calculate search engine placement and page rank. I know one blogger that gets 75 to 100 comments on nearly every post. Can you imagine what a pain that would be to navigate. With the short patience and attention span of people on the web now a days, they would likely just click away and go elsewhere unless you had something very compelling.

Go to settings > discussion and you can change your moderation settings and let all comments post immediately if you wish. That will mean you will get spam coming through on your comments from time to time.

There is no way to add captcha or math comment spam protection here.

Email notifications on comments are separate settings so you can keep those.

I should mention there is one theme here where you can display comments on the main page, the P2 theme. It is designed as a collaborative tool. In my experience it is a very flakey theme with some issues, but you can have your comments on the main page. Just know though that if you get lots of comments, this can be a serious turn-off for your visitors. Having to do lots of scrolling is one of the top things people dislike on the web.

Thanks a lot thesacredpath, You’re right, it would be really hard to navigate, I never really though of that!

Ah, setting – discussion, this is what I was looking for!

    Thanks again.
