Can i get more widgets?

  Is it possoble to get more widgets other than the defult ones made available in wordpress?

  Yes. Inside the control panel of your blog, you can click on “presentation”. Then, click on “widgets”. You can drag widgets you want. Bye! :D

  yes but there are only a limited amount, all are these the only widgets i can use?

  Yes. Did you notice that you can have up to 9 text, category and rss widgets?

  I don’t want to hijack whiteplimsole’s query but can you give a quick example of what someone might put in extra text or category widgets?? Sorry to be thick!

  Well, category widgets are only for categories, text widgets can be used for pictures, links, lists… (almost anything but javascript code and/or iframes), rss widgets can be used for publishing headlines from other sites, anobii books, twitters, yahoo pipes…

  So why might I need more than one category widget?! My single one has a drop down box with the categories in it and numbers of posts in brackets. What else could I use one for? And what might I put as a list in a text widget?

  Staff gave us 9 (or whatever the maximum number is) category widgets that are all exactly the same and cannot be configured to do different things.

  Perhaps it was simply an experiment in cloning.

  Well, blaxter, I have no idea on “why” there are 9 category widgets. They don’t do any harm, do they?
  As for lists in text widgets, well, the only constraint is your fantasy: your favorite colours/books/records/movies/paintings/sweets/flowers/cars…, the most important posts of your blog, your papers on magazines, whatever you like.

  Here is an example of one of my widgets:

  you can insert that code in a text widget and It appears

  I’ve looked in others foruns, and it seems that I cannot place any embed/flash/javascript widget… but can I place them when I host my own WordPress Blog?
