can i get my previous domain back, plz?
-
i used to use therichthoughts.com.
and then i decided to do something else… self-hosted site.
but the time it takes me to do all the updates and stuff… means i have no time to do everything else… and as you know, time is more than money.
but also, self-hosted site is now so slow that the best option for me is to go back to wordpress.com.
now even though i’ve paid some £68 for premium plan… it appears that all i can have is a different domain, but not ‘therichthoughts.com’.
so the question is, how can i get this domain back for the same cash i’ve already paid?
thanks.

it looks like therichthoughts.com is almost through the deletion process as it looks like the domain name registration was not renewed. Since it is still showing in a whois – you can’t just register it – I think you will need to wait for it to revert to the wild and hope nobody else grabs it. Maybe you could negotiate with the registrar and buy it from them before someone else does
I have flagged this for staff attention and maybe they can help or have some more advice

Hi there,
It looks like that domain expired 75 days ago. Domain expiration is a long process that can take as long as 80 days. In many cases we are able to still recover the domain during this time, but your domain has already been removed from our system, which means our registrar has cancelled it completely.
However, this does not mean it will necessarily become available again – the registrar decides if and when they will release that domain again, and they could in fact have already sold it to someone else. We have no control over that once the domain is removed from our system.
If you really want that specific domain, you can also try back-ordering it with another registrar. Then they will try to register it for you the moment it becomes available again, whenever that might be, but there’s no guarantee that will work.
