Can I get the Pinterest icon over images in my free wordpress blog?
-
Have you seen the plug-in that allows you to display a Pinterest icon over every image in each post so that people can easily pin your article to PInterest just by clicking on the icon over the picture? Is there any way to install this in a WordPress.com site? If not, is it something you would consider adding in the future? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Plugins can’t be installed on WordPress.com, for security reasons. You can read more about that here: Plugins
However, I passed along your suggestion for a Pinterest icon on images to our developers so they can consider adding it in the future. :) Thanks for the suggestion!
In the meantime, you can see several options for adding Pinterest to your WordPress.com blog here: Embed from Pinterest
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

The “Pin it” hover button has been added! It now gets auto-enabled if you have connected Pinterest in Settings > Sharing and selected the “Official buttons” option for button style setting.

I’m also super happy to see that the “counter” for the pin it button at the bottom is working again. However, it seems to be only counting pins that have occurred since the counter was reactivated rather than total times the article has been pinned. Any chance it will once again count the total pins? I used to love that feature!

My first thought is that the data in the “Pin it” sharing icon at the bottom of posts comes from Pinterest directly. I also tried to find a way online to check the pin number and I found http://pinplugins.com/pincount/ For example if you put the link for your latest post https://fhelessons.wordpress.com/2015/02/16/101-best-books-of-all-time/ into http://pinplugins.com/pincount/ it returns 25, and that’s also what I see in the “Pin it” sharing button at the bottom of that post.

Hmm. I just know that when the counter was working before, I had some articles that had been pinned thousands of times and now those articles show less than 10 pins. So I assumed it was counting the pins since the button was reactivated. Otherwise those articles should still show a number in the thousands.

It’s hard to say since I don’t know what was showing before or how to see how many pins an article had before. I can try to help you look. Can you post a link to an article where you expected to see more pins and about how many you expected to see?
-
Sure. Here is a link to an article that had been pinned more than 35,000 times before the counter stopped working last year. Now it shows 104 pins. https://fhelessons.wordpress.com/2013/02/15/introducing-the-book-of-mormon-stories-series-and-a-timeline/
This next article had also been pinned several thousand times and now shows only 4 times.

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it! -
Hmm, I checked with the tool I found before, it it says 105 pins for that first link:
http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ffhelessons.wordpress.com%2F2013%2F02%2F15%2Fintroducing-the-book-of-mormon-stories-series-and-a-timeline%2FI think the sharing icon is working correctly and returning the info that Pinterest itself is providing. As a next troubleshooting step, I would recommend contacting Pinterest directly and asking them if they could verify how many pins the article https://fhelessons.wordpress.com/2013/02/15/introducing-the-book-of-mormon-stories-series-and-a-timeline/ alone has received to see if it matches up with your expectations.
