Can I give an author limitations as to what page they can update?

  I am new to WordPress.com and would like to know if , inviting (and they accepting) a new user to my webpage, and I change them to the author role of a certain one of my pages, can I make it to where author’s can only edit/update CERTAIN pages within my website? We want users to be able to edit/update THEIR particular assigned section only and not be able to mess with other people’s pages. I sincerely appreciate help on this!

  Is it possible in WordPress.org? If so, does it require downloading a plug-in?

  WordPress.ORG software has several security Plug-in’s – I would expect one to do what you want – however you will need to look or ask over there
