Can I have 2 columns of copy in addition to a widget sidebar in twenty-ten theme

Hi. I would like to have a second column in the main copy section of my static pages. I don’t wish to use the site as a blog, as much as a static website. If you look at the twenty-ten demo photo, there is copy, and a picture of an ocean wave to the right of the copy. Is this a second column? How was that photo pasted in that location. Could that be other copy instead? And then I would like the widget area to exist also, just as I have it now. i am just hoping to have control of 2 columns of copy to the left of the widget side bar. Is this possible in twenty-ten? Thank you!

What demo are you talking about? I’m not seeing any ocean wave on the twenty ten demos either at theme.wordpress.COM, or even at wordpress.ORG/extend/themes/ .
Although you can use a “trick” to get two columns of text into the body of a page or post, it does not really create two distinct columns. It is one column that then continues into the second (wraps).
You could also hand code an HTML table if you are familiar with HTML. That could give you individual cells or columns to put stuff in.

I’m sorry but that theme is a two column theme and what that means is one column wider column the left hand side for post or page content, and one narrower column on the right hand side which is a sidebar for widgets.
You can restructure the blog to resemble a website but doing that does not magically change the fact that there is a sidebar and make that space available for any other use. You can place an empty text widget in the sidebar and that will result in an empty space.

The only issue with tables is they aren’t accessibility standards friendly for screen readers.
