  I would like to have a forum on my blog but am not sure how to go about it. I have already upgraded to pro.

  Currently WordPress.com does not offer forums as a function for our blogs.

  However, you might like to try out bbPress, forum software written by the folks at WordPress for use on self-hosted WordPress.org sites. You could either move your entire blog to a new self-hosted site, or keep it here but host the blog elsewhere and link to it using Custom Menus.
