Can I have the comments showing?

Is it possible to have the comments actually showing. At the moment the comments do not show unless you click on a gray “comments” button which is also quite small so I don’t think my readers even know it is there.

Can the comments just be permanently on display. I have looked at all the available buttons under discussion but can’t find anything that looks appropriate.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Comments are visible on each post on that unique post’s page. They are NEVER visible on the main page of the website, because if you had a popular comments thread, your blog would become unnavigable. I have seen a WP.com blog with 45,000 comments on one post.

I’m sorry but the answer is “no” unless you use the P2 theme which is a Twitter-like theme. The front pages of our blogs showcase content and comments are collapsed on that page. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display.

In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog is the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat. Page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

If you really want comments visible on the front page, you’ll have to go for the P2 theme… http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/p2/
