can I import an WordPress XML file that's >40MB?

  I would like to migrate my blog from WPEngine to WordPress.com, but my exported XML file is >40MB, and the import tool has a limit of 15 MB. Is there a workaround?

  Hi Erin,
  If possible, do the export again using date ranges to create smaller (less than 15MB) files. If that’s not an option, use a software tool to split the file: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-split-large-xml-files-in-wordpress/

  Then import each file.

  Thank you! I found another workaround as well — I gzipped the archive and uploaded it that way, and WP automatically unzipped it on import.
