Can I import WordPress files that are not in xml format?

  I created a local site on WordPress and have all of the original files, and then shared them with a third party to post on another server. Something has happened to those files and I would like to reload the files onto a new WordPress site. I have an .xml file created later, but the import does not work correctly—much of the formatting that took me a lot of time to customize has reverted to “factory standard.” Is there a way to import the actual files rather than the xml file? These should still be accessible via my local site, but I can’t seem to log in using any of my e-mail addresses. This blog URL below is the intended address. Nothing currently exists there.
