Can I include a text affiliate link in blog post?

  Answers seem to be unclear on this topic and I want to know if it is ok to use an affiliate text link in my blog posts when I am mentioning a book. I write a Christian blog an on occasion will link to a book I am reading, I was thinking about joining an affiliate program and was wondering if this was acceptable. I tried to submit this last night, but I do not believe that it went through.

  Let me add that I do this occasionally, but not all the time and I have read differing answers in the forums so I really want support to answer this for me.

  By doing this I mean link to a book so readers know which one I am talking about. I have not done affiliate links.

  Affiliate marketing blogs are not allowed. The main purpose of the blog cannot be driving traffic to other sites.

  WordPress.com now allows us to insert our own text affiliate links within post and page content, as long as they are within the context of the post or page. These can link to Amazon or other third-party affiliate programs. Image affiliate links, and any affiliate links in widget areas, are still considered to be ads and are not allowed on WordPress.com.
