Can I keep my old domain name?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I plan to install plugins, but it says I will be changed to the domain name ‘.wpcomstaging.com’. I don’t like it, is there any way to keep the old domain name ‘.wordpress.com’?
    Thanks.

  • Hello!

With a plugin-enabled site at WordPress.com, the site will receive a .wpcomstaging.com address instead of a .wordpress.com address. And it’s the temporary address for your website until you’re ready to add your own domain to your site (for example, yourgroovydomain.com instead of yourgroovysite.wpcomstaging.com).

The wpcomstaging address is fixed and cannot itself be changed. We recommend that you registerconnect, or transfer a domain to use with your site. Once you’ve added your domain but still see wpcomstaging, you can switch the primary address of your site to your domain.
