can i keep widgets intact if i change themes
-
Hi, I am doing a free wordpress site, and chose the oxygen theme.
solomonbrookfarm.wordpress.com
After putting in the paypal links, calendar and newsletter signup in the secondary sidebar, I find that I can’t get rid of the primary sidebar (on the left) without upgrading to the css option. If I change themes to a 2 column format, will I lose the things I listed – some had to be created by someone else, so I don’t want to lose that work. Any suggestions? Also, I chose oxygen because I could use a large header pic with the menu below (instead of above the header.
any help would be welcome, thanks

If you add your own widgets to the left sidebar the default ones should disappear. See: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/Your widgets should remain if you change themes, but to be on the safe side, go to Appearance ->Widgets and drag all those you want to keep to the inactive widgets area at the bottom of the screen before you change the theme. That will prevent them from being deleted. After activating a new theme, you can add them back to the sidebar/footer without having to reconfigure everything again.
