Can I let go of my original domain without it affecting the current domain/site?

I created my site under the domain name http://www.thebodyelectric.org. Then I wanted a different domain name – http://www.michellestortz.com. I transferred the site to michellestortz.com (at least I think I did). I am paying for both domain names now, but only want michellestortz.com. Can I let thebodyelectric.org expire without it affecting michellestortz.com?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://michellestortz.com/ – is the primary domain

Traffic to .thebodyelectric.org. does correctly route to //michellestortz.com/

If you let .thebodyelectric.org. expire – any bookmarks and links with that URL will no longer go to your //michellestortz.com/ – and someone can pickup the expired domain and put porn on it if they want –

No content will be lost as long as you don’t delete a blog – deleting a custom domain name will not delete content – but visitor access using a deleted custom domain name will stop
