Can I link to a page within my own website without it also showing in my page widget?
-
I’m just wondering if I can link to any one of my pages from inside a post in my website without it the page also showing up in the page widget.
I know in order to do anything I have to publish the page or post and I have a page widget, but I think it shows every page I publish, no matter what. Is there a way to link to a page within a post without the page showing in the widget? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Create a custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#1-create-a-custom-menu and include only the items such as Pages https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-pages that you want to display in it.
-
What does any of that have to do with my question?
I don’t want to create more menus.
I want to link to pages I already have from within posts I write. Since I have a page widget active, every time I publish a page it will show up there and that is not what I want. I want to keep the widget as is, but not add to it. -
re: creating links in posts and pages
Using click here is the worst possible choice of anchor text. Use either the title or the most relevant keyword or keyword phrase as anchor text when creating links in posts and pages.
First, make sure you are running one of the browser versions found here > http://browsehappy.com or upgrade to one of them.
Then see the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
This is the general link model:
Highlighted anchor text hereThis is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that “here” is not a good choice. Use relevant anchor text to link to.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link. -
Browser versions….what? Do I need to get into engineering or something?
I can grasp the creation of the link from what you wrote, but your not talking to an expert here. I don’t even rate newbie.
I do need to have pages published in order to link to them and the widget part of my question remains unanswered. When I publish a page it is automatically put in the widget. Is there a way to keep the widget as is and not have other pages show up in it?A simple “yes, you can do this” or “no, you can’t do this” to this whole thing would have sufficed I think. Thanks.

See what you find here: Recent Comments Widget
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-comments-widget/ -
See what you find here Pages Widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/pages-widget/
As you can see all support docs are at https://support.wordpress.com/
All widgets are listed at https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/widgets-sidebars/ and clicking the link for the relevant widget provides destails on how they can be configured.

Comments? What are you talking about? I don’t want comments active or a widget for them!
Your talking gibberish.
I need someone from support to answer this I think. -

Pages Widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/pages-widget/

Exclude: If you would like to exclude any pages from being displayed, you can enter the Page IDs (separated by commas). To find the Page ID, go to My Site → Pages and click the title of the page. The address bar of your browser will display a URL with a numeric ID at the end. This is the page ID.

Ah, much better, thank you. I forgot about the exclude function. All this round about, indirect unrelated stuff really confused me. You could have saved yourself some typing and such had you posted this earlier too. You may be an multi-level high-end web engineer, but most of us are not.
Websites are extremely difficult to administer and maintain in my opinion. I do mine out of passion. I suppose I’m learning something as I go I guess.

The best way to learn and become independent may be to use the support docs at https://support.wordpress.com/ as the searchbox there works very well, and even provides links to releted forum posts.
For example, type in pages widget and click search.

Search Results for pages widget provides this link as the top result https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/pages-widget/
