Can I maintain wp sites domain names without upgrading to auto renewal??

  I have several free .wordpress.com sites. I don’t want to lose my domain names, but robo-phone caller says I need to pay $80 to upgrade to automatic renewal to keep the domain names. I have never done this before for any of my free wp sites. I also have two paid sites….is it just referring to the paid sites?

  all basic WordPress.COM sites are free – upgrades do cost

  However – WordPress.COM does not make any phone calls, robo or otherwise. You are being scammed on your custom domain names – the robo-scammer wants you to buy some over priced something – I get email all the time on my custom domain

  You do not need to have any auto-renew on any upgrade here – I have some of my upgrades on auto-renew and some are manual upgrades

  If it will help you to feel better I will flag this for staff review

  to help give you accurate help – if you would post the name of the custom domains the staff can look at how (if at all) they are related to your blogs here

  At present, you do not have any custom domains associated with your account.

  All addresses for your WordPress.com sites (i.e., those ending in wordpress.com) will always remain free.
