Can I make a blogroll in a new page?

    Hi all,

I want to have a separate section (from my regular blogroll) to include the webpages/blogs of some of my visitors.

Can I insert a blogroll inside a new page (like the ones we make under Manage>Page) or can I have two blogrolls instead? I have seen blogs that have several blogrolls and was wondering if WordPress supports that.

    Thanks.

All wordpress.com blogs have only one Blogroll where you enter all the links and assign each one to a Category. The links you enter into your Blogroll are displayed only after the Links widget is placed in your sidebar. The manner in which the links will be displayed is alphabetically in accord with the Categories you created and assigned to those links when you entered them into your Blogroll.

You can create a page if you so choose and list your links on it. Then you can remove your Links widget from your sidebar. Pages are for static content. You cannot assign categories to them and they do not automatically update. Most bloggers do not make this choice but it is possible.

This will help with the set up and configuring of widgets. The troubleshooting section addresses Blogrolls and the Links widget.

Thanks for your help. In other words, I cannot have two blogrolls – is this correct? Thanks.

I never like the idea of the Blogroll appearing on my sidebars as I like adding more and more links. Since there is no way we can add the blogroll automatically to a page, I created a page manually (I know, pain in the behind) but with wordpress, you can do anything in seconds. Now if you go back to the links in your “Blogroll” under your Dashboard, simply deactivate the links of those you have already added in your Blogroll Page so it won’t show up in your sidebar widgets (if you have any other links added). You can see mine.

I think you still do not understand. The Blogroll is the only place you can enter all your links. But that’s not really important. Every link must have category assigned to it.

So it’s the number of Categories that you create that counts.

See this: If you assign “Blogroll” as the name only category for links that will put them all in one group.

Now see this: If you assign “Friends Links”, “Family Links”, “Business Links” as three separate categories this will give you three different groupings of Blogroll links.

Thanks for all your replies. This would be a lot easier, of course, if I could make two or more blogrolls like other blogging software – perhaps this feature could be added in the future?

IMO using as many Categories as you want to means that in essence you can have an unlimited number of “Blogrolls” separated into groups. I don’t see how having a fixed number like two or three Blogrolls is superior to that. And I most certainly would not appreciate that restriction being introduced when what I have now is “unlimited”. :)
This is not to say that you can’t ask for that. It is to say if you do I will stand firmly and politely against it. ;) *lol*
    Happy blogging!
