Can I move a site to WP and keep original appearance?
-
Can I move my existing website hosted on godaddy to wordpress without changing appearance? It is a simple sight with 5 pages. No commerce. Just info for people to read and click to send an email. If so, how?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is your site on godaddy a wordpress site? If so, it’s pretty straightforward to use the Export/Import Tools to copy content over, but you’ll probably still need to do some customization to the Appearance.
I can be more specific if you can provide a link to the site you want to move over.

Hi, I tried to do the same thing by entering a different domain name in my WP settings. Now everything is messed up and I’ve lost my appearances settings and can’t get to my original dashboard. Is there a way to revert back to original dashboard settings?

@thorthesqrl, is your blog hosted on wordpress.com or somewhere else? This support forum is only for help with wordpress.com-hosted blogs. You can go to wordpress.org to get support for your blog hosted elsewhere.
I’m guessing your blog is hosted elsewhere because I don’t think you can mess up your domain path through the settings available on wordpress.com. It’s a common mistake on self-hosted blogs though. The way that I fix it is to edit the mySQL database directly via phpmyadmin in the hosting admin panel. You need to go into the options table and change the site URL back to whatever it was originally. Your hosting provider should be able to help you with this if you get stuck.

My original site was hosted on wordpress. The second one is not. Thanks for the suggestion though. I’ll give it a try.

skylygal,
There is no way to automatically convert a non-WordPress site to one that does use WordPress. So, to get it running on WordPress you’ll have to build it from scratch (although you can probably copy and paste some of the text).
As a result, if your ultimate goal is to setup a free blog with WordPress.com, and your current site does NOT use WordPress, there is no reason to first setup a WordPress site with Go Daddy. Since you’ll be building it from scratch, you might as well just start at WordPress.com so you won’t have to build it twice.
