Can I Move Links to Dif’t Spot on Page?
-
Can anyone help me? I don’t like how my links (i.e., Blogroll (even though I changed the name of the link category)) show at the very bottom of my blog. Is there a way to move the links categories to higher up on the page?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think I have found your blog here http://accidentalgreenist.wordpress.com/
I see these widgets on your blog Archives, Categories and Meta.Every blog comes with a set of default widgets. Those selections are over ridden when you begin to add additional widgets. Therefore they will be eliminated if you do not include them when you go here to install your Links (blogroll) widget > Appearance > Widgets
Select all of the widgets you want from the Available widgets and drop and drag them into place in the sidebar. Then click “Save Changes”.Understanding the relationship between blogrolls, links widgets and categories widgets is a must for mastering wordpress blogging. Perhaps reading this will help you as it’s helped many, many others http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/12/10/wordpress-blogroll-links-widget-categories-widget/

The theme you have chosen is called Day Dream. It has all the widgets in the footer of the theme, rather than beside the posts. No you cannot move them up any higher. If you do not like that arrangement then you can go here > Appearance > Themes and select another theme. -
Hi, No, actually, that’s my personal blog. The one I’m asking about is my biz blog: http://greensol.wordpress.com. Your link was helpful, but it didn’t answer my question. If you look at my Green Sol blog, you can see that I already know how to create categoreis. My only question is whether I can move them from the bottom of the page to the top right, next to my postings, rather than at the very bottom of the page. Does that make sense? Thanks!

That’s the Fastadtic theme which only displays on full page on the front page of the theme. All the rest of the dispaly is limited to permalinked titles of posts.
I put the theme up on my test blog and went here > Appearance > Widgets. I selected the Categories widget and drug and sropped it into Sidebar 1 and clicked “Save Changes”. It’s now displaying right next to the posts in the left sidebar on the right hand side of the blog.

edit – arraggghh! I made a typo in the 1st sentence above. This is what I meant to type. That’s the Fadtastic theme which only displays one full post on the front page of the theme. (This cannot be changed.)

Here’s the bad news. The Links (Blogroll) will only display in the footer sidebar. I tried moving the Links widget into sidebar 1 but it was a no go. Sorry but if that’s a deal breaker then you will have to try another theme.
P.S. A great way to learn wordpress..com blogging is to get a test blog and make it private, so you can mess around in it and test things before using them on your actual public blogs.

Wow, thank you so much for doing all that! U rock! I love your suggestion to do a test blog. I’m going to do that for sure! Yeah, I may have to try another template. But not a big deal — I’ll just play around w/a few first on my fancy new “test blog.” :-)
thanks again! -
You’re welcome. You would not believe how many test blogs there are out there. I’m betting that every Volunteer who answers questions on this forum has at least one. Best wishes for a happy outcome. :)
