Can I not host my own custom html website with wordpress?

    I have made my own simpe html + css website and all i wanted to do was to use wordpress to host it. Is there no way for me to just upoad my files and run it as a traditional html websit.
    ‘Website hosting’ seemed to be excactly what I was looking for, or have I made a bug misunderstanding.
    If that is the case, I hope I havent just wasted 40usd on a domain and that I am eligible for a refund.

    Hi Trygve,

    WordPress as a software (which originates from WordPress.org) is a Content Management System (CMS), it was not really designed for static HTML sites.

    We (that is: WordPress.com) provide managed WordPress hosting, which is to say we manage the installation and maintenance of the WordPress software for the sites that we host.

    If you’re looking for a “blank folder” type of hosting for your static HTML/CSS site, then anyone offering WordPress hosting may indeed not be the best option. I understand you have already cancelled your subscription; if you have any other questions, please do let us know.
