Can I obtain a deleted domain name that I originally created?

  If an in-active/deleted domain was previously created/registered under my own account, am I able to obtain it for use regardless of how long ago it was created/registered as the owner?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  That depends on the domain.

  If it was a custom domain, like example.com, it would depend on whether or not the domain is currently registered. If you owned it, then cancelled it, and then someone else bought it, that person would now be the new owner of the domain and you’d have no claim to it.

  If it was a free WordPress.com address like example.wordpress.com, then you’re out of luck. WordPress.com addresses are not recycled once they are deleted, and only the original owner of the address can request that it’s restored for 30 days after deletion. Beyond 30 days, not even the original owner of the address can use it again.
