Can I obtain 'thursdayschild.wordpress.com' for my new blog?
-
Hello,
I would like to start a new blog called ‘Thursday’s child’, and really want the address to be: http://thursdayschild.wordpress.com/
However, somebody has already got this address, but appears to be completely inactive. The last post was in 2008, and I can’t find any posts apart from that. Do domains become free again once a certain amount of time has passed?
As an alternative, I tried to use http://fartogo.wordpress.com/, but again, the same thing happened. The user seems to have made no posts at any point. Please let me know if there is any way of obtaining thursdayschild.wordpress.com, due to its inactive status?
Thanks,
Carol MoranThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting on the blog, then providing the owner is agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.
If you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
