Can I open blog with a Page rather than a post?
-
Can I have my blog open with a page rather than with a post? I’ve read lots of support documents…no luck…thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, but doing so mean you are forcing visitors to your site, who come looking for your fresh content in your latest posts, to click through the same page every time they visit to locate your posts.
The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

thank you timethief–you are always so helpful…I’ll consider it more carefully before I do anything….thanks!

timethief, I ended up dealing with this by posting a “welcome” POST. I just launched the blog and I wanted to greet the new visitors–so this “welcome” post will serve that function for the next few days when I expect visitors. thank you for all of your help and generosity sharing it with me.

P.S. if you want it to always be at the top of the front page you can edit it and make it a sticky post.

Ah! thank you–I’ve never really known what a “sticky post” is–so this will force me to learn! Thanks!
