Can I place my own ads onto a site that's premium?

  Thinking about purchasing the Premium account for $99/year, but was curious about ads. I know that with this upgrade I can turn off ads placed by WP, but what if I want to monetize my blog later with my own ads?

  Is this possible with the Premium account? If so, how can I do that?

  No. No user-initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com, regardless of upgrade level.

  However, with premium you can get a custom domain and then you can apply for WordPress.com’s own WordAds program. But you can’t add your own advertising. https://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

  Well, it is possible if you have the $30,000 VIP program, but not otherwise.
