Can I post my gofundme link on free account

Is it possible to post my gofundme link that offers a way to donate to me on a free account? I tried to research it on this site but had a hard time navigating.

Unfortunately a gofundme link won’t work with a free plan. You’ll need a business plan. WordPress restricts the use of some HTML tags on their Free, Personal, and Premium Plans for security purposes.

It won’t be exactly what you want, but you could create a text widget with an image, some text, and a link to your GoFundMe page and put that in your sidebar.

    Hope this helps.

It does.. But wouldn’t that be frowned upon as well?

Or can I put a payment button for donations if I upgraded?

I’m not sure if it’d be frowned upon or not, but I don’t think it’ll have the desired look and feel that you are wanting.

If you choose to upgrade here is a link to the gofundme instructions on embedding a widget that links to your gofundme page:

  • Hi there,

There is no problem with adding a link to your Gofundme page on your WordPress.com site. It’s just a link, and will work like any other link to any other website – links don’t require any special kind of HTML.

The Gofundme widget cannot be used on WordPress.com due to our code restrictions. To use that you’d need to be on our Business Plan.

Oh ok…… So if I were to post a gofundme link that would then be asking for donations, it’s ok on a free account? I assumed having to do with money, I would need a paid account.

    Hey there,

A link in itself should do fine. But for certain widgts and monetizing options like Adsense, you will need a Business plan as only Business sites can cater to more advaneced HTML tags.

  • You don’t need to be on a paid account to ask for donations for your site, no. You can also add a simple PayPal button on a free site to get donations, or even to sell products or services, and you can both post affiliate links (provided they’re relevant to your content) or write sponsored posts (provided they’re your original work and not just reproduced content from elsewhere) on a free site to earn an income from it.

You can see several monetization options, many of which are both possible and allowed on free sites, here:

, thanks for trying to help, but the info you provided is not relevant to the question. The OP is asking what is allowed, not what is possible, and you’re just repeating information that has already been provided further up in this thread.
