What you’ve done is correct: you have created a top nav menu with links to category pages. So now you simply start writing posts (in Posts > Add New), and assign the proper category to each post:

    Organize Posts with Categories

I have the same problem. I have tried posting under each menu by assigning the proper category to each post, but the posts don’t act like updates. They are more like keystone content. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

There is only one page that we can post to in a blog. You cannot post under each menu. Please read very carefully what panaghiotisadam said immediately above your comment. The answer is there. Just follow his instructions.

We organize our posts by use of categories. There is only one dynamic page in a blog and we cannot post to more that one page. However, we can create the appearance that we have done that by setting up a custom menu and displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation menu.

If you have not set up a custom menu then follow these instructions.

    1. You create a custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    2. You add the pages and the categories you want and arrange the way you want them to display.

    3. When you have everything in the menu that you want (and nothing you do not want), save the menu.

    4. Go to the “theme location” module at upper left on the menu page. Select your custom menu name from the pulldown labeled “primary location.” Click the save button in that module.

    5. Go to the front page of your blog, refresh your browser so that it isn’t possibly pulling a cached page, and see your new menu.

    6. So now you simply start writing posts (in Posts > Add New), and assign the proper category to each post:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/#adding-categories-with-the-categories-module

Until there is a published post in a Category there will be nothing to display. But after you do publish that first post with a category assigned to it the posts will all automatically display under the tab in the custom menu you created across the top of your blog.

Posts ARE keystone content. You might get more of the effect you’re looking for if you use a theme that truncates Category posts on the Category pages?

    Thank you for the feedback!

@raincoaster – How can I find such a theme? I have tried a variety of themes and they all seem to work the same.

Try looking for the list. There’s one on http://wpbtips.wordpress.com

    You’re welcome.

Re: How can I find such a theme?
Here’s the post to look at:

In the majority of themes, posts in category or monthly archive pages show up just as they do in the main posts page. But in some themes only the beginnings of posts are shown, and in a few themes you only get titles or thumbnails. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/full-posts-in-archive-pages/
