Can I publish a Page as Private and have it be a parent
-
I want to build a Page with subpages that is private. I set up the Page I intend to be the parent Page, but it does not display in the drop down menu of Parent Pages on my intended sub Pages. Does publishing a Page as Private prevent it from displaying in the menu of available parent pages? If so is there a way around this?
thanks

Hi Bob,
Private pages cannot be parent pages as well. However, a private page can be a child page of another parent page. Does that make sense?
If you would like to use your page as a parent page and still restrict access, you could set it up as a password protected page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-visibility/
Would that work for what you’re looking for?

Jeremey,
thanks for the info.
I’m not sure if this works for my purposes. Do you know if I set up a password protected page, are the followers of my blog notified? I don’t want to notify them of something I don’t want them to access.

Hey Bob!
Your blog followers will not get notified of pages, only for posts. So, even if you create a public page, they will not be notified.
