Can I recover my original blog address?

I understand why deleted blog addresses can’t be claimed by new users, but what about me, the original creator? My wordpress username is sarahmarie1219, but I changed the name of my first blog from sarahmarie1219.wordpress.com to something else because it’s become a joint travel blog for my boyfriend and I, and I wanted the name to reflect that it wasn’t just mine. Now I want to use sarahmarie1219.wordpress.com for another blog of my own, but I can’t because I deleted it once before. Help! Is it gone forever, even from me, the original sarahmarie1219???

Ah nevermind, I finally got on to some forums with the same question, looks like it’s gone for good!

That is why we never recommend deleting a blog – seems people always want the original URL sooner or later
You can set it to Private
Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Only visible to those I choose – then nobody (including search engines_ can get in unless you invite them – or many people just let old blogs sit – with no new content – does not really hurt anything to just sit in place
