Can I regain an autosave after pressing the wrong button?
-
I accidentally hit the wrong button and lost the last autosave. I had practically finished my post and have lost it all.
Is there a way to get it back? -

Thank you for your help.
I hit ‘Save Draft’ (the first time I had done so whilst writing the post) but it was saving every ten minutes and knew it kept those.
But when I hit that, it said ‘Try Again’, which generally happens when one is inactive.
I did so and then at the top it read that it had autosaved another version. Here I pressed the wrong button and it took me back to the first revision and none others were present. That was at 4am and quietly wept myself to sleep :P
I have since rewritten the piece so I don’t need this information urgently, but was curious as to whether it’s possible to retrieve what it saves every 10 minutes.
Does that make sense? I’m not sure if I’m being clear.
Thanks heaps

I think I understand. The autosaves work a little differently than the revisions list does. Auto saves are good for restoring your work if you’ve suddenly lost connection or your browser fails. But we don’t keep every auto save available.
It’s similar to the autosaves you’ll see if you use MS Word. They’re mostly there as a backup, and you should still be saving regularly. If you restore to an older autosave, that clears the more recent changes you have made.
Does that clarify things? Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

That’s what I figured – which is why I ended up writing it up the next morning.
I was slimly hoping there was a trick that I could use if it happened again.
Thanks heaps for your help :)
