Can I remove categories and blogroll boxes
-
I do not want to have the categories box display on the main page for everyone to see. I also don’t want the blog roll to appear for everyone to see, if I have a theme that I like can I edit some code to remove those categories, and blogroll boxes/text

what if my theme isn’t widget aware does that mean that if i make it widget aware i still wont be able to remove those boxes?

If you have a theme that is not widget-aware it will have those hard-coded in and there’s basically nothing you can do about them. If you had the CSS upgrade and knew CSS well you could make them invisible, but that’s about it.

Hi raincoaster,
do you know how to make widgets and categories invisible when they’re hard-coded ?
-
If the theme is not widget-aware, you cannot remove them.
If the theme is widget-aware, you can remove the default contents by adding a widget yourself. This will remove all hard-coded elements.
-
We cannot help you if you do not tell us what theme you are using. It is possible to hide specific sidebar elements with CSS in some themes, but not in others.
-
@ viktorbentley: change themes.
fockingbird, don’t go recommending the CSS upgrade to people who don’t already know CSS unless you’re willing to hang around and help them. There is essentially no help for CSS in the forums.

Essentially no help for CSS in the forums? Why am I not surprised?
Oh well, you obviously want to keep things that way. Bye.
-
Oh, hardly. Help away. There are only about five people who contribute in the forums who know CSS well, and they’re not available 24/7.
