Can I remove “comments off” and Category name on posts?

  I have a blog/site which uses the same category (Announcements) for all posts and does not allow comments on any posts. I would like to remove/disable the automatic category listing (“posted in Announcements”) and the “comments off” notification at the bottom of each post. Here is the URL: http://emhoa.org

  Is there a way to do this? Do I have to use Custom CSS?

  We can’t edit the templates underlying our themes as they, in essence, are being shared by everyone who is using the same theme on this multiuser blogging platform. TSP, halluke, or devblog will be able to tell you if this can be done by CSS editing but my hunch is that it’s a function that’s coded into the template, and we can only use CSS editing to change appearances and not functionality. However, as I say it’s a hunch. I could be wrong.

  yes, you can hide those using CSS. If you had it, you would use this code:

  .postinfo {display: none !important;}

  devblog – Thanks so much for your reply! Does .postinfo apply to BOTH “comments off” and the “posted in Announcements”?

  If I turn on the Custom CSS option, do I ONLY have to enter the one line of code that you included above?

  Yes, “.postinfo” is the parent element, and by hiding it, you’ll hide its children.

  Correct, if that’s the only change you’ll have, then that’s the only code that should be in the CSS editor.

  devblog, This worked perfectly and was so easy!

  One more question… Can I remove the “Categories” section at the bottom of the home page. All posts will be under “Announcements” so there is no need to show the categories.

  Is there a master reference anywhere for there types of changes? If so, I would love to look at it. I know CSS (but I’m not an expert), but am new to modifying WordPress sites.
