Can I remove the categories from featured posts at top of twentyfourteen theme?
-
Hi,
I don’t want the categories to display, just the post titles. Can I switch them off somehow?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there! You can hide those with a bit of CSS code.
- While logged into your site’s dashboard, click Appearance → Customize.
- In the right-hand menu, click CSS.
- In the CSS Revisions box, enter the following code below all the existing text:
.cat-links {
display: none;
} - Save your changes.
That should do it! Please let me know if you have other questions.
All the best to you :)

Thanks for your reply, thatrobyn.
Will that remove the categories for the posts themselves too?
If possible, I just want to remove the categories from the featured posts at the top of the home page but keep them listed in each individual post.
Thanks,
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Great question. Yes, it will remove both. The CSS code that controls the settings of category headings is the same on those pages. Therefore, a change applied to one page, will also take place on another.There are certainly themes that don’t behave in this manner, if you’d prefer not to live with categories on the front page.
I can help you locate one, if you’d like assistance.

Thank you for that kind offer, but I like this one – particularly because this one is responsive to mobiles. I think I’ve got used to them and can live with the categories. Now to write more content….!

Chris, I was actually hoping you’d say that! I would have been more than happy to help, of course, but I think the theme suits your site very well. It really looks great :)
Thanks much and happy blogging!
