Can I remove the Comment box on my static front page and all of my other pages?

    Comment box still appears even though I have unchecked default setting boxes in the “settings”- “discussion” box. I’ve tried doing this on each ‘page’ of my blog and It says changes have been made but the box appears anyway. I’ve posted a comment to test it and it still does add the comment.
    I’m confused and frustrated.
    PS I am a complete novice at this
