Can I "Repurpose" a Premium WordPress?

So, I have a few sites I run through my WordPress, a couple of which are using a premium plan. One of those is rarely used, sitting and gathering dust for all of the money I spent on making it premium.

I have a new project in need of a site and I thought it would be perfect (and financially intelligent) if I could just re-purpose the site account I’m not really making use of?

I guess one of the catches would be that I don’t want to buy a new domain either, I just want to go with a .wordpress.com address – for better understanding here is an example…

The current site is anerdlife.com with a custom domain name obviously. I want it to be FollowTheQuestline.wordpress.com – I basically don’t want to spend any money on this, while utilizing something I already paid for.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog you specified at http://www.anerdlife.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

That’s fine, I’d be fine repurposing echgraphics.com as well.

You can change the subject of a blog to use the Premium whatever you have already bought – if it is a theme you should be able to transfer it to another WordPress.COM blog

I have the 100 dollar a year package, I doubt I can simply transfer it to another blog. If I am wrong and this is possible then let me know what to click and where and I’m on it.

I would basically need to change the account name since that’s what the name.wordpress.com URLs rely on.

You can transfer an upgrade from one blog to another blog as long as both blogs are registered under the same username account, as explained here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades

You must be logged in as Admin under the username account that registered the blog to transfer it to another username account that you have assigned the Admin role to. Then you can transfer a blog to another username account as described here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

    Exactly what I needed timethief.

This one is a stretch, but is there a way to change a domain I’ve bought? IE – I bought the EchPlays.com domain name through WordPress, is it seen as a service and if so can I somehow change that domain purchase to a different URL?

It’s an upgrade and it can be transferred as was addressed above. However, this is getting really muddy now so I tagged this thread to have Staff guide you through the process, lest something goes sideways. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Yeah this is likely a matter of customer service having to do it manually or it just simply not being part of the domain package.

I am able to transfer domains just fine to different blogs, but as you might imagine I don’t need my new blog to be called what my old defunct one was, lol.

Thanks for the help, I’ll look for their replies.

I’d be happy to move the premium upgrade to a different blog if you want to, but the domain registration has already been used and it’s not possible to change a registered domain.

    Looking forward to your reply.
