Can I run a competition on my blog?

I run a parenting blog – https://yellowbellymummy.wordpress.com/ – I wanted to run a competition to giveaway a £25 John Lewis voucher to mark it’s first anniversary – but I’ve been told by some people I’m not allowed to. I just wondered if you could clarify for me please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. I’m not aware of any Terms on WordPress.com that prohibit competitions or giveaways, so as long as you adhere to the restrictions regarding advertising you should be in the clear. Still, I’ll tag this for staff to give you a definite answer.
I would imagine a statement that WordPress.com has nothing to do with your competition (using the correct legalese of course) is a good idea, and then make sure you’re obeying any local laws regarding running competitions. I know, for example, Canada and Australia have fairly strict laws in this regard, so if you’re from one of those countries make sure you know and adhere to those laws.
If you’ll be promoting the competition on Facebook and Twitter also make sure you stay within their terms for running competitions and promotions, otherwise your accounts with those services could be suspended.
