Can I see my draft posts on my website before launching?
-
Hi! I am new to wordpress and have been trying to create a blog website. I am struggling with the home page as I cant see what it would look like without any posts. I created a few draft posts hoping to see them on the website so I can play around with the layout but they are not there. So my question is, is there a way to see my draft posts on my website when I am customising it? If I click ‘publish’on my post, what will happen if I haven’t launched my website yet? I tried googling this a 1000 times but I just can’t find any information on this, please help!

Hi there,
What is the address of the site you are referring to?
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software, we won’t be able to help you out and you’ll want to seek help at these forums:

That site isn’t hosted here at WordPress.com. It’s over at BlueHost. The software used at each place differs so advice offered here might not work on your site. You’ll need to register an account and ask for advice at the correct support forum:

Ah right, thank you! Yep, it’s hosted on Bluehost but I am using wordpress to build it. I didn’t know there was a difference in performance depending on who the host is if I am using wordpress to create the website?
-
Not a difference in performance, just that because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.

I see, thank you for explaining! But could you just tell me if I should be able to see my draft posts on my web page or would I usually only see the published posts?
-
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
So, we generally can’t provide accurate answers to that.
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
